Boycotting Racist Rapid City Businesses: Statement of Solidarity
We’re proud to stand in solidarity with our partners at NDN Collective in boycotting local businesses with racist policies–and to work actively to serve and support Indigenous communities. This isn’t just a local issue; white supremacy continues to damage communities across the country every single day. As a team, and as a business, we believe if you are not actively working against racism and white supremacy, then you are complicit in the racism around you. Here is our full statement.
“Emergence LLC is proud to have the opportunity to work with many Indigenous led organizations throughout the Oceti Sakowin. Our company not only supports Indigenous organizations but employs a diverse staff inclusive of Indigenous people. We believe that it is not enough to show support verbally, but to be actively anti racist in our work, our policies, our practices, and how we show up for each other and our communities everyday. It is important that our team and our practices be a reflection of the communities we work with and the vision we have for a world in which white supremacy is dismantled. If you are not actively working against racism and white supremacy then you are complicit in the racism we see on display in this state far too often. We are committed as a business to continue to serve and support Indigenous organizations through this community and are proud to stand alongside you in this work.”
